A Letter from the President of MYSA

Dear MYSA Member Board Leader,

Given recent changes to the soccer landscape in Minnesota, the Minnesota Youth Soccer Association would like to highlight some facts and benefits that differentiate MYSA from a new for-profit metro-only league. We feel that it is important for your Board of Directors to have these facts to best serve your membership and make informed decisions.

  1. MYSA is an established, professionally run Non-Profit Organization:
    • Socially responsible - reinvests revenues into programming for your club’s benefit
    • Dedicated staff with organizational management and 183 years of combined soccer administration, coaching, education and playing experience. 
  2. MYSA is an innovator in implementing player safety rules and guidelines
    • Comprehensive annual background check process tied to all adults: club administrators, coaches, managers, and referees
    • Goal safety inspection program
    • Recognize to Recover Concussion Initiative
    • Clear and consistent weather policy
  3. MYSA is a member of US Youth Soccer, which is the largest youth soccer organization in the United States. MYSA is the only organization in the state that can offer participation in the following programming:
    • Minnesota State Cup and advancement to US Youth Soccer National Championship Series
    • Presidents Cup and advancement to US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup
    • US Youth Soccer Midwest Regional League
    • US Youth Soccer National League
    • US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program
  4. MYSA has responded to Membership interests through the results of the 2017 Landscape Taskforce
    • Club Pass rules approved for 2018 season
    • Club-determined team placement (self-select) at all ages in Classic 2 and 3 Leagues
    • Addition of another competitive level: Premier II
    • Increased flexibility in rescheduling process
  5. MYSA uses one registration and league management system that provides:
    • Free website and registration option for member clubs
    • Digital passes (paperless) within mobile application to ensure all are games are played
  6. MYSA has been serving the game of soccer for nearly 50 years. Founded in 1969 as the Minnesota Junior Soccer League, and incorporated in 1987 as the Minnesota Youth Soccer Association, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. Currently, MYSA is the only provider of statewide programming, including:
    • Statewide leagues culminating in true State Championships for ages 11U-19U
    • Competitive soccer for ages 9U-19U
    • Promotion/relegation based on team performance starting at 14U
    • Youth Academy Program for ages 9U-12U
